The Pacific Community Charter School charter was written by a group of committed parents who sought an educational alternative for their children. The K-12 charter was approved by Arena Union Elementary School District in March of 1999, and the school was granted its charter by the State of California in April 1999. The K-8 site opened in August of 1999 and the High School opened in August of 2002.
The mission of the Pacific School “is to provide a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum which prepares students to enter higher education and occupations in their communities with an understanding of their geographic and historical roots and the goals toward which they can grow as adults.”
We acknowledge the traditional, ancestral, unceded lands and sovereignty of the Manchester Band of Pomo Indians and the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians, whose relationship with the land continues to this day.

Family participation
We believe that education is a team effort. Optimum success is achieved when students, families, and teachers participate in the learning process. Family participation is a vital link to student success. PCCS requires a commitment from the families to support the school, in and out of the classroom.

enrollment
PCCS serves families from Salt Point (Sonoma County) to Elk (Mendocino County). Open enrollment is held annually from March 1st – June 1st for the following school year. There are a limited number of spaces available. No tuition is charged. All enrollment is non-discriminatory.

governance council
Governance Council (GC) Members are the trustees of the nonprofit organization that runs PCCS. The GC works with staff to uphold the mission of PCCS, ensure the continued Charter Renewal, monitor the school’s overall performance, and establish policies.
PCCS is an independent charter school authorized by the Point Arena Schools District. PCCS works collaboratively with the District to provide special education, transportation, and extra-curricular services and programs for our students. “Point Arena Schools strive to give each and every student a high-quality education where they can pursue their own future and make positive contributions in their local and global communities. To achieve this goal, we must build a learning community that values differences. We recognize diversity, equity, and inclusion are assets within our schools and must be considered at all levels of decision-making.” -Excerpt from the Point Arena Schools Equity Statement
